FOX 9′s Heidi Collins anchors FOX at 5 and FOX at 9. Collins comes to FOX 9 from CNN in Atlanta and New York, where she was a news anchor and correspondent for eight years, three of which were spent as anchor of “CNN Newsroom with Heidi Collins.” In addition to reporting on and interviewing world leaders and U.S. Presidents for CNN, Collins has been at the forefront of several breaking stories. She landed the first exclusive interview with President George W. Bush following the 2008 election and for FOX 9, Collins broke the story before the rest of the nation that Osama Bin Laden had been captured and killed. In her first year at FOX 9, she has received two Emmy Awards. Collins is also the recipient of two Peabody’s, an Alfred I. duPont, an Associated Press Award, & three Edward R. Murrows.
As the wife of a former USAF fighter pilot, Collins is very passionate in her support of our brave troops and veterans. Heidi was honored to have been selected by the Secretary of the Air Force as 1 of 100 civilians to attend the National Security Forum, at Air War College, to participate in discussion regarding our nation’s defense. She currently serves as a Board Member for the Tee It Up for the Troops organization.
Tee It Up for the Troops has raised more than $4 million since launching in 2005 and benefits more than 60 different military and veterans groups across the country. Heidi is a local girl as well. She’s a Twin Cities native and Mounds View High School graduate. Heidi holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
